Classroom lessons in museum to end?
Classroom lessons in the Canterbury Museum may not continue because of museum renovations. The Canterbury Education Board was told yesterday that the classroom for visiting school pupils will disappear once the renovations are finished. Another area has been provided for a classroom, but it would cost about $30,000 to convert.
Mr Keith McNeil, the board’s general manager, said the board was worried about spending so much money on a building it did not own. The Education Department had declined a request for financial help. Board members and museum staff are trying to find a solution to the problem.
