Winning author named
NZPA-AP London The novelist, Doris Lessing, has won the £4OOO ($10,400) W. H. Smith literary award for her book, “The Good Terrorist.” The novel, published last September, tells the story of a group of Leftwing militants living in a London commune and features Alice, the title
character, who regards herself as a committed revolutionary. The award, first made in 1969 by Britain’s largest newsagent and bookstore, is given to an author in Britain or the 49-nation Commonwealth whose book has made the most outstanding contribution to English literature in the previous year.
