Old friends team up on ‘Sunday’
Twelve years ago a young David Beatson and the even younger Lindsay Perigo worked together on television’s “Nationwide" current affairs programme. Beatson was already a veteran presenter/interviewer. Perigo, widely respected for his awardwinning radio work, was venturing into television. Today both are regarded
as broadcasting’s top interviewers.
This year Perigo and Beatson are re-united on the “Sunday” current affairs interview programme, which is entering its third year in One’s 9.30 slot on Sunday evenings. “Sunday” first programme for the year is tomorrow evening with a look at the impending Royal tour.
The “Sunday” editor, Alistair Carthew, says Perigo will be the main line interviewer and Beatson’s role will be as the presenter. Beatson will continue as the editor of the “Listener.” The “Sunday” studio format, with a film or video backgrounder, will not change, but there will be more satellite interviews this year.
