Asthmatic killed by glue-sniffing
PA Hamilton Solvent sniffing killed Kevin Andrew Shepherd, aged 22, says a Hamilton Coroner’s finding. His parents found him on the floor of the lounge in their Horotiu home with a big plastic bag, containing a half-full can of glue, over his head, Constable Bruce Donald, of Ngaruawahia, said at the inquest The police were satisfied there were no suspicions circumstances and
that nobody else was involved in the man’s death, Constable Donald said. A pathologist, Dr David Bruton, said Mr Shepherd’s lungs were heavy and congested. The Coroner, Mr John Webb, found that Mr Shepherd died from heart failure, brought on by “cardiac arrhythmia caused by solvent toxicity or anoxia (lack of oxygen).” The Coroner said Mr Shepherd had been asthmatic.
