Roydon Glen’s future in doubt
Roydon Glen’s racing career is in doubt. The outstanding five-year-old has developed a problem below a pastern in a foreleg. “It’s serious and unless it responds to treatment it could end him as a racing proposition,” said his trainer-driver, Fred Fletcher, yesterday. “The area causing the problem has been Xrayed and there are no broken bones. We should know whether there will be a complete cure within a week or so, but even then It will be a long time before he could race again,” he added. . Fletcher said there had been a little soreness in the leg before he contested the Auckland Cup last Saturday when he went down narrowly to Comedy Lad, but it had disappeared by race day. ; “There was soreness in the leg when he got home from Auckland on Wednesday night so we withdrew him from the big mile to be run on Saturday,” he said.
