College considers new name
Christchurch Teachers’ College may have a name change. The Auckland college has already changed its name to the Auckland College of Education, and the Wellington college is considering a similar change. The Wellington College principal, Mr Graeme 01dershaw, has asked the Christchurch college council if it is considering a name change. At the Christchurch college council meeting last evening, the principal, Mr lan Stewart, said some benefits could be derived from a name change. “We are not just a teachers’ college any more,” he said. “I think some alteration of the name in the way suggested by Auckland and Wellington would indeed be appropriate.”
The council decided to ask college staff and .students for their views.
