Smarty Pants again
Smarty Pants gained her second win within recent weeks when she shaded Andronicus, Loveridge and Chipaluck in a tight finish to the Ashby Ferguson, Ltd, Mile at Addington Raceway last evening. The daughter of El Patron and Smart Doll was a tailender early, but improved three wide from the 1200 m. She was in the open from the 700 m and showed no signs of weakening in the run home. She finally got there by a short head from Andronicus, another to cover much extra ground. Loveridge battled along the inside for third, a nose away, half a head in front of Chipaluck. Aran Blaze did best of the three runners in the event from lan Cameron's stables by fjiishing fifth, ahead of
Ruthless, Bobanish and Lady El, which had trouble securing an opening in the straight. Raced and trained at Russley by Peter Van Der Looy, Smarty Pants has now won seven races and some $31,000. She should extend her record on the final night of the meeting.
