Police apprehend boys
Four boys have been apprehended by the Christchurch police after children reported that stolen hydroslide tickets were being offered for sale at a school. About 15,000 tickets, worth $37,500, were taken when an office at Jellie Park Aqualand was broken into on Monday evening. The manageress, Mrs Reima Goldsmith, said yesterday that some children who regularly visit Aqualand had telephoned to tell her that the tickets were being offered for sale. “They enjoy coming here and we get to know some of them well,” said Mrs Goldsmith. About 9000 tickets have been recovered, and the police hope to recover some of the other 6000. Some of the soft drink stolen in the burglary has also been recovered. Two boys, aged 13, have been apprehended for the burglary. Two others, aged 14 and 15, have admitted receiving the tickets. The four will be referred to the Christchurch police youth aid section. Staff at Aqualand would watch for stolen tickets being presented for rides on the hydroslide, Mrs Goldsmith said.
