Second robbery of P.O.
PA Wellington A tomahawk-wielding man robbed the Epuni Post Office in Lower Hutt yesterday. It was the second armed robbery at the post office in less than three weeks. Detective Sergeant Larry Reid said the robber left the bank about 2 p.m. yesterday with between $2OOO and $3OOO, and was thought to have made off in a car. The police are looking for a male European, about 1.74 m tall, with tight curly black hair.
“We are unable to say yet whether anyone else was involved,” Detective Sergeant Reid said. The same post office was robbed of $5OOO by two knife-wielding men on January 28. One man was arrested for the robbery and police are still looking for at least three more.
