Truck ride cost $2000
PA Auckland An Avondale man who broke into the premises of his former firm and unlawfully took a truck and trailer unit valued at $498,500 was fined $2OOO yesterday.
He was Peter Howard Waygood, aged 26, unemployed, who appeared before Judge Satyanand in
the District Court at Auckland. Waygood had previously pleaded guilty to breaking and entering the premises of Liquid Recycling and Filtration, Ltd, in Penrose on January 17 and unlawfully taking the truck, and trailer belonging to the firm. Mr David Brown, for Waygood, said his client,
although in a good financial position, was immature and unsophisticated. Waygood, who had been employed by the company as a driver, resigned after finding his itinerary excessively demanding.
Mr Brown said that soon after Waygood had taken the unit it ran out of diesel, and so he could not, return it as intended.
