N.Z. sprintcars title

Confusion has been caused by a report in yesterday’s edition of “The Press” on sprintcar racing at Ruapuna this week-end.

The country’s top drivers will compete on Saturday night for the Wrightcars Toyota New Zealand sprintcars title. It will be decided over three 10-lap heats, and has drawn eight entries from North Island drivers and 10 from the Canterbury area.

However, the sixth round of an “outlaw” series sponsored by an Auckland firm will not be part of the programme, as the earlier story indi-

cated. Organisers of the Ruapuna event said yesterday they had no connection with the other sprintcar series, which is being run over several weeks, and at different venues. All these events, they say, are being contested in the North Island.
