Waitaki dividend shares

Waitaki NZ Refrigerating Ltd will offer its shareholders bonus shares in lieu of the final dividend due to be paid on March 7. The bonus share scheme must be approved by shareholders at the company’s annual general meeting on March 7. Shareholders will also be asked to approve a change of name to Waitaki International, Ltd. When the decision was announced in December, the managing director, Mr Athol Hutton, said that the name change had been proposed “because the industry has changed its emphasis from a carcase killing operation to a more market oriented one.”

The company decided to stick with the name “Waitaki” because of the name’s meaning (clear, running, water) and the fact that the company has built up the name as a selling point for its products. “The name Waitaki NZ Refrigerating, Ltd, used since the merger in 1975, was always recognised as a compromise and it has been generally accepted that a name change would be made at some stage,” said Mr Hutton.
