FUTURES All contracts down
U.S. dollar contracts dived and the interestrate indices fell again on the futures market yesterday. Trading volume rose in all contracts, perhaps because futures, thriving as always on volatility, were reacting to the foreignexchange market. In Wellington, the New Zealand dollar topped 55 U.S. cents on the exporter (buy N.Z. currency) side, Mr Geoff McDonnell, futures manager of Mair Astley, pointed out. The U.S. dollar futures contract closed 200 points down ($lOOO to those long — with buy positions) in February, and 180 points ($9OO down) for March, compared with the Monday closing prices. Wool contracts, said Mr McDonnell, were down about 4c across the board, reacting to the strengthening currency. The PCP (interest-rate) contacts index was down again, Mr McDonnell said. The February close was down 15 points on the Tuesday close, and the March close was down nine points. Details of yesterday’s sales:
