Interim board for forestry
PA Wellington An interim board, for the proposed Forestry Corporation — to be set up as part of changes in environmental administration — will be appointed by the middle of February, says the Minister of Forests, Mr Wetere.
Decisions on the form of the corporation would not be made by the Government until the interim board had reported on a suitable financial structure and status for the corporation and the status of its employees.
Mr Wetere said it was premature for members of the timber industry to speculate on the way State wood would be sold. Sawmillers’ claims that the corporation would place them at a disadvantage were unfairly prejudging its business
n methods. d Mr Wetere said it would r- be important that as a n commercial enterprise a the corporation treated its customers well and it e would undoubtedly value s past relationships with many sawmilling clients.
