Lively polo expected

Four days of exciting polo are expected in the Lion Brown Low Goal Savile National polo championships starting at Culverden tomorrow. The championships will be played in two sections, with a total of four matches to be played tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday. The sectional winners will meet in a sudden-death final on Sunday afternoon. All teams will play a handicap competition in the same matches, and the handicap sectional winners will play a cur-tain-raiser final on Sundav nlcn ThA hvn crratrh

The champion--1 ship winner will hold the > Riddiford and Levin Cup, first played for in 1928, 1 when it was won by Christchurch at Christ- ' church. The present 1 holder, Cambridge, which won at its home venue, will not defend the trophy; nor will last year’s handicap winner, Wanstead C (Waipukurau), defend the Klaus Cup.

There will be added interest in awards, assessed on performances during the championship, for the champion pony, the best team of ponies, and the most promising player. The tournament will be hosted by the Amuri Polo Club at its grounds at School Road, Culverden. The turn-off to the west is signposted in the township. Most of the visiting players and horses will be billeted by Amuri residents. The club is grateful to people for making paddocks available for horses.
