Fringe extravaganza
Christchurch’s second Festival of Fringe Theatre will culminate on Saturday in five hours of entertainment. The outdoor concert in the Arts Centre’s northern quadrangle will feature artists and performers taking part in the weeklong festival.
It will begin at 7 p.m. and, if wet, be held in the Great Hall. It will be a five hour showcase of talent com-
bining top international and New Zealand performers with the best of what Christchurch has to offer in fringe entertainment, dance and music. Jango Edwards, Europe’s uncrowned king of fools, will be the major attraction. Alongside him are such well-known figures as
Jonathan Acorn, Mime River, Clown Shiven, Chris Began as the Great McGonagal, Jamie Bull, Michelle Hine, Francis
Batten, Rene the gypsy, and musicians, Bruce Robertson, Malcolm McNeill and friends, the Pete Rainey Big Band, Natural Magic, plus a host of others. It will be a continuous array of talent involving juggling, fire-eating, acrobatics, stilts, music, mime and dance and a display of fireworks by the Lucifer Fireworks Company. Tickets are available at the Court Theatre and the Arts Centre office.
