Leonard Cheshire V.C.

Sir, —Many readers will have watched the recent television programme featuring winners of the Victoria Cross, one of whom was Group Captain Leonard Cheshire. While Leonard Cheshire’s wartime valoiif and attainments were truly remarkable, he has since become even more outstanding as a man of peace, the International Mission for the Relief of Suffering founded jointly by himself and his wife, Lady Ryder of Warsaw, being testimony to this. Their work, which has been described by the Duke of Edinburgh as “one of the greatest acts of humanity of our time,” is supported in this country by The Ryder Cheshire Foundations in New Zealand. Interested persons in Canterbury may get in touch through telephone 516-546 or P.O. Box 1966, Christchurch — Yours, etc., BRUCE MOON, Honorary national secretary/treasurer. February 6, 1986.
