Botham takes wicket
NZPA-Reuter St John’s, Antigua The all-rounder, lan Botham, took his first wicket of England’s Caribbean tour after the touring team had built a 173run first innings lead over the Leeward Islands.
Botham trapped Luther Kelly leg before for 16 with only 19 on the board but the Leewards recovered to reach 59 for one by tea.
England might have been in a stronger position at the interval had the West Indian test batsman, Richie Richardson, not had more than his fair share of luck. They put on 59 in an eighth wicket stand broken immediately after lunch.
Scores: Leeward Islands 236 and 59 for one, England 409 (M. Gatting 71, R. Robinson 68, A. Lamb 64, G. Gooch 53; G. Ferris four for 91.
