450 lambs stolen at Hororata
Sheep with an estimated value of $9OOO have been stolen from a farm at Hororata.
Mr Selwyn Bruce said police inquiries had failed to find any of the 450 Romney ewe lambs stolen from his farm on January 21.
He said local stock firms and freezing works had been told to look out for his particular earmark on the sheep, but he sus-
pects the sheep have been taken out of the district. “There must be a fairly well-organised gang of
thieves around,” he said. “We just hope that eventually the police will catch these blokes red-handed.” He said he had hoped to make a profit of $BOOO
from the farm this year, but the theft of the lambs he had hoped to use as breeding stock would reduce this to $BOO.
