$200M T-bill offer
PA Wellington The Reserve Bank is offering $2OO million of treasury bills for sale in today’s weekly bill tender, it announced. The offering comprises $lOO million of 14-day (end-February) bills and $lOO million of 35-day (end-March) bills. The bank said the bills were being offered in response to the level of cash balances forecast for the end of the settlement week February 12-18.
The forecast build-up of cash balances towards the end of the settlement week, after allowing for the settlement of bills in today’s tender, may require additional sales of bills through open market operations. The bank also said that, on the basis of present forecasts, it expects to make an offer to inject funds through sell-backs today to partly offset the withdrawals expected from the system then.
