Rollercoaster noise
Sir,—ln reply to Mr McKay’s petition to the Christchurch City Council on the rollercoaster at Queen Elizabeth II Park: 1, There is ho requirement in my lease regarding wheel type. 2, The rollercoaster does not exceed any level of the noise bylaw. 3, My lease states that the coaster has to comply with all by-laws, which it does. 4, The petitioners give the impression the coaster goes day and night non-stop. On quiet days it hardly goes at all. 5, Since the coaster’s inception I have had nothing but “Kiwi knockers.” I wish the new gondola company all the best. They will need it. It has my blessing; it can only help tourism. — Yours, etc.,
W. K. FINNERTY. February 5, 1986.
