Trial on rape count

PA Auckland A Freemans Bay man charged with raping an American tourist was committed to the High Court for trial at the end of a depositions hearing on Friday. Allan Brian Miller, aged 33, a cleaner, appeared before Messrs J. Jaffe and R. Scott, Justices of the Peace, in the District Court at Auckland.

Miller, who pleaded not guilty to raping the woman on October 1, was remanded in custody.

Late last year the complainant and her husband gave evidence before returning to the United States. All other evidence for the prosecution was admitted to the court on Friday by consent.
