Concert noise
Sir,—Your report (February 6) of the response of a rockconcert promoter to complaints of excessive noise amply demonstrates why such concerts should be held at venues far removed from inhabited areas. While acknowledging that many people enjoy such entertainment, I and many of my friends find such noise very irritating and sometimes distressing. Rock-concert promoters show arraogance and insensitivity to the feelings of those citizens who would prefer to live in peace and quiet. The Christchurch City Council would do well to reconsider the use of venues such as the Addington Show Grounds for such concerts.—Yours, etc., ROGER BROWNE. Feburary 6, 1986.
