‘Seekers’ to screen at last
“Seekers,” the TVNZ drama which was to begin screening last September, will finally appear on One at 7.30 this evening.
Transmission of the 16part series, about three adopted people with the same rather mysterious birth mother, was postponed because of industrial action by Actors
equity. The series revolves around a decision by Maggie Settler, a sort of early swinger, to give birth to a tribe of great children fathered by different, brilliant sires, says the producer, Brian Bell. “After having three, however, she decided the
whole business was a bit trying so she changed her mind, got married and went to the United States,” he says.
“She had the children adopted out, but managed to keep track of them, and 20 years later she comes back to New Zealand and brings the three of them together.
“She tricks out of them their ambitions; what they would like to accomplish in the next six months. Then she offers a prize to the one who first achieves their aim.”
One wants power, another wants money and the third child wants enlightenment.
