Soap star earns evening role

I’m not one to gossip, but one of the nicest things that happened to me while I was in Hollywood was meeting Terry Lester again. Lester plays Jack Abbott on the "Young And The Restless” and he has finally got his chance to star in a evening drama, “Blade In Hong Kong." The entire shooting of the C.B.S. twohour movie was done in Hong Kong. Lester found that his fascination with the city and its people was returned by the people. He told me: “They all wanted to touch my hair because it is blond, a rarity in that part of the world.” Lester is one of the nicest people in the industry — down to earth, natural and, above all, totally human. Watch out for him on “Hotel” which should be coming our way about the middle of the year. Super bitch Joan Collins and Michael Nader who plays Dex, her television husband in “Dynasty,” have been named television’s sexiest couple. A mass of people swarmed around “Hotel” star Connie Seileca at a Beverley Hills shopping mall. It all started when the actress reluctantly

obliged a single fan. He asked to take her picture; she protested that she was not looking her best, but he talked her into it anyway. Of course, that brought the crowd around, all with the cameras. I guess when it comes to doing a full make-up, the moral of the story is "don’t leave home without it.” “Falcon Crest” star Lorenzo Lamas is telling everyone he wants to leave the series next season when his contract is up. My bet is he will stay on as long as they will have him. No other show has shown any interest in him. He is known around Hollywood as the man with the biggest head — as in. star-struck.

“General Hospital” fans will be upset to find that Tristan Rogers who played Robert Scorpio, has quit the show. He played the role for five years, but thinks now is a good time to move onto other things. I recently met him in Hollywood and found out that he was bom in Melbourne, Australia, but now there is only a slight trace of the Aussie twang. His romantic link on the show was Holly played by Emma

Samms who has also left the soapie to play Fallon on the “Dynasty” spin-off “ The Colbys Of California.”

The one thing I missed over these last couple of months in the United States was my weekly intake of “Coronation Street,” so I was over the moon when I got home to find a book on the 25 years of the Street. If you are a fan like me don’t miss this book. It covers the entire 25 years. In fact I have just finished it, but I’m sure I be looking

through it many times. The five-month marriage of Princess Yasmin Khan, daughter of the movie star Rita Hayworth and the Greek shipping merchant Basil Embiricos may be in trouble. A London source told me of the so-called reasons why the couple have now separated — Yasmin decided to live in New York while her husband Basil likes to live in London and Athens. Their first child was bora in New York in December. Yasmin is looking after her mother and the new baby in a penthouse suite in the centre of New York City. The actress Morgan Fairchild says that in spite of the fears of A.I.D.S. that prompted the Screen Actors Guild to propose kissing guidelines, cinema and television smooching is here to stay. She says: “Acting is the only profession in the world, short of prostitution that requires kissing as part of its business. I mean, romance and romantic scenes are very much part and parcel of what we’re selling.” All jokes aside, A.I.D.S. is still very much up front and there are many actors that will not do kiss-

ing scenes at all. One soapie brought a doctor onto the set to explain all about the dreaded killer. This week I was going to tell you about the actress who has a bad drinking problem on a leading soapie, but legal action has stopped me. I feel very restless about this, but my lips are sealed!
