Three youths stabbed after Levin party
PA Levin Three Levin youths were stabbed after they left a party in the town early yesterday. Sergeant Bruce Glover, of the Levin police, said a group had just left the party about 1 a.m. when a youth became involved in an argument with an oc-
cupant of a car which had just driven past. A second person got out of the car, carrying an air pistol. He was disarmed by the group but in the struggle he produced a knife, Sergeant Glover said. Graeme Matakatea was stabbed in the chest. He is in the intensive-care unit of Palmerston North Hospital, where his condition is reported as comfortable. Tony Mallon suffered a cut to a leg and buttocks and Brett Jennings suffered knife wounds to a shoulder and leg. Both are in a satisfactory condition in hospital. A fourth person was treated at the scene. A Levin youth, aged 18, was arrested and would appear in the District Court today charged with wounding with intent to injure, Sergeant Glover said.
