Arrest after shots

PA Auckland Armed offenders squad members surrounded a house and arrested a man after shots were fired outside a hotel in the Auckland suburb of Parnell on Saturday evening. The polled said a man went to the Windsor Castle hotel at 7.15 p.m., and smashed several windows with the butt of a shotgun before firing into the air. Nobody was injured. The man drove off but was traced to a house in Balmoral, where the squad eventually talked him out. It was then discovered that the man had been involved in an accident earlier that evening, when a milkman and his staff scattered for cover after a firearm was produced after a collision.

A man, aged 18, will appear in the District Court at Auckland today charged with unlawful possession and recklessly discharging a firearm.
