Insurance holding

PA Wellington The Guardian Royal Exchange Assurance Group has secured a holding in National Insurance of New Zealand, Ltd, GRE announced yesterday.

It has advised National Insurance, and says it is seeking to increase this holding by continuing in the market. GRE is a major and long established British-based international insurer operating in over 80 countries. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and has total assets exceeding SNZIB billion.

In New Zealand the company has a head office in Auckland and branches throughout the country. Mr A. C. Montgomery, chairman of GRE in New Zealand, said that in the ne deregulated environment GRE feels that, with the experience it can bring, it has an increasing role to play in the New Zealand insurance scene.
