Four wickets in 4 balls
Bowlers were on hattricks no less than three times in the Trusteebank Trophy senior cricket match between EastShirley and Lancaster Park B at Burwood Park on Saturday.
Bruce Murray, the East-Shirley off-spinner, wrapped up the Park B first innings with consecutive balls, giving him a career best of eight for 87 in the innings.
In Park’s second inning::, Murray’s first over produced wickets
on the fifth and sixth deliveries. Then, a remarkable situation developed as Colin Hight, the East-Shirley mediumpacer, captured wickets with the first and second balls of the next over. Thus, Park B lost four wickets on consecutive balls.
It was a memorable day for East-Shirley. Its 175-run win was the biggest margin of victory in the competition this season, and it was East’s first outright win of the summer.
