The Bankers’ Association has welcomed the announcement by the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of the extension of the discount facility for maturing Government securities up until May 15. “There is little doubt that this modest easing will remove an unnecessary impediment to a smooth handling of the March 1986 tax flow. I would expect that sufficient liquidity will now be available to meet taxpayers’ demands throughout the March tax period,” said Mr Bob McCay, acting chairman of the association.
