Bracewell inspires Auckland
PA Auckland The off-spinner, John Bracewell, aided by sharp fielding and good support from the other end, caused Northern Districts to fall short of Auckland’s first innings of 258 in the Shell Trophy cricket match at Eden Park yesterday. Bracewell took four wickets for 43 off 27 overs as Northern were dismissed for 199. Trevor Franklin and Phil Horne, with an unbeaten opening stand of 88, gave Auckland a lead of 147 at stumps. An outright win could give Auckland the trophy, depending on the performance of Otago and Wellington batsmen in other matches.
