Our client provides a comprehensive range of products and services in both the urban and rural areas of Taranaki, Wanganui and Manawatu, and is involved in retail, automotive, agricultural, livestock, real estate, horticultural and financial The “flag ship” of the retail operations is the departmental store located in central New Plymouth. This three-level, 7000 square metre store, carries traditional lines, but additionally merchandises farm and garden supplies, groceries and operates a public cafeteria. Reporting to the Area Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the achievement of profit objectives, the management of assets and personnel, and will be expected to provide leadership, direction and forward thinking to ensure future profitable growth. The position is supported by an assistant manager and experienced departmental supervisors. REQUIREMENTS □ A proven record of successful retail store or departmental management, preferably in a departmental store environment. □ A sound knowledge of modern retail management principles and practices. □ Proven leadership abilities and the inter-personal and communication skills to relate at all levels. □ Drive, energy and initiative to achieve profit objectives. □ Age range flexible, but preferably in the 30-45 age group.
