Soldiers for Malaysia
A contingent of 114 New Zealand Army soldiers left Christchurch yesterday for training exercises in Malaysia. The contingent which comprises both Regular and Territorial servicemen drawn mainly from South Island units, wass to fly first to Singapore by Royal New Zealand Air Force Boeing 727. The soldiers will reinforce the Singapore-
based Ist Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, for Exercise Taiaha Tombak in Malaysia. Exercise Taiaha Tombak is a three-nation exercise involving the armies of New Zealand, Australia and Malaysia. The New Zealand and Malaysian air forces will provide air support. : ’ The New Zealand-based contingent will return on March 5. > .
