Fire Service appointment
PA Wellington Auckland’s fire force commander, Mr Brian Armstrong, has been appointed to the Fire Service Commission for a five-year term. Mr Armstrong has been in charge of No. 1 Region Auckland since 1982 and has been in the Fire Service for 34 years. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Tapsell, said Mr Armstrong would fill the position left vacant by the retirement of Fire Commissioner Ivor Wesley, a previous regional commander in Otago and Southland.
