Bar betting criticised
PA Wellington Betting in bars could lead to some bar patrons spending their whole pay packet on beer and gambling in one day says the
New Zealand Temperance Alliance. Commenting on the opening of one of the first licensed premises, the King’s Cross Hotel in
Lower Hutt, to have legal betting from a bar, the alliance’s general secretary, Mr Tom Quayle, said the move could lead to “social distress in the community.”
