Village Kid wins again
Village Kid, winner of the’ Miracle Mile a week earlier, made no race of the $50,000 Harold Park Cup in Sydney
The 11-4 on favourite was well back from the mobile barrier at the starting point. His driver, Phil Coulson, moved him up with about 1600 m left and he sat on the outside of the pacemaker, Area Code. Coulson gave him more rein 500 m from the finish and he quickly opened up a break on his rivals, finally winning easing right down by eight metres from Area Code.
