A.R.A inspects mural
PA Auckland Psychologists will not be asked to give their view of the controversial Auckland Airport mural. Members of the Auckland Regional Authority’s Passenger Services Board yesterday inspected the mural after a request from staff to have it removed. Staff felt the mural’s bold lines and bright colours would anger tired passengers. One board member suggested artwork by spray bombers would be a good replacement. Others thought the area round the mural needed to be improved. One member, Mrs Dorothy Jelicich, said she liked the mural but felt it was in the wrong place. “When people arrive in New Zealand they are going to want to know they are in New Zealand — in Auckland,” she said. "There is nothing there to show that.” A suggestion to invite a panel of psychologists to inspect the mural prompted general amusement, but no vote was taken. The board decided to postpone further discussion until more was known about proposed im- < provements to the Inter- ' national terminal. !
