Models to be unearthed
NZPA-Reuter Peking About 2000 more lifesize terracotta horses and model soldiers will be unearthed this year from one of China’s richest archaeological finds, the Xinhua News Agency has said.
It quoted archaeologists at Xian, central China, as saying the 2000 would be added to 714 others displayed at a museum near Xian.
The pit containing the warriors and horses, in battle array, was discovered in 1974 by peasants digging wells there. The site is near the mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, China’s first emperor, who died in 210 B.C.
