Land to go to council
The Christchurch City Council will gain a localpurpose reserve of land adjoining the Woolston Cut project.' The land will be vested in the council if the council accepts its parks and recreation committee’s recommendation. The committee yesterday approved accepting the Christchurch Drainage Board’s offer of the land. The board will landscape the area to a plan approved by the council. Paths, cycleways, and lighting will also be provided by the board, as will all legal expenses. Maintenance of the esplanade reserve will be up to the council. Cr Clive Cotton asked if consideration had been given to the water hazard the Cut could offer to nearby Bamford School. The director of parks and reserves, Mr Neiel Drain, said the effect on nearby properties had been considered.
