Two-life bowls victory
Carol Griffiths (Sumner) won the Christchurch women’s bowls first-year players championship at the Riccarton Racecourse club yesterday, and she did so with her two lives still Intact. In the final she beat Nancy Wall (Woolston Park), 16-13, after leading, 15-7, at one
stage. It was their second meeting of the day and Mrs Griffiths won the first encounter, 19-11. To reach the final, Mrs Griffiths beat B. Penney (St Martins), 18-12, and Mrs Wall beat V. King (Morrison Avenue), 20-7.
