Bi Noble travel hitch might be bonus

A hitch in travelling arrangements has delayed the entry of Bi Noble into the Takanini stable of Ray Verner. Bi Noble’s delayed departure for the north will allow the promising Otago-owned and bred stayer a start in the $12,000 Steinlager Handicap on the second day of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting tomorrow. Prince Majestic’s younger brother was unlucky in his only start at the Wellington Cup meeting. His main holiday assignment was the Invercargill Gold Cup, in which he was runner-up to Sea Swift. Royal Sceptre, the Invercargill Cup third, will again be in the line-up against Bi Noble tomorrow, and will be high on the short list of fancies. Ten Winks, the runnerup to Canterbury Belle in the South Island Thoroughbred Stakes, achieved that second with a resolute rally after getting into cramped quarters about 1000 metres out. There is none with the class of Canterbury Belle in action against Ten Winks tomorrow, and the northerner could go close to winning. The Steinlager Handicap is the first leg of tomorrow’s T.A.B. double. Noble Note and Satiny’s Pride are interesting newcomers at the meeting in. the field for the Jim Beam Handicap, second leg of the T.A.B. double. At 1400 metres, they have claims to match those of Double Bank and La Pomme, which dominated the finish of the shorter feature sprint on the first day of the meeting.

The T.A.B. trifecta will be on the Steinlager Handicap. The T.A.B. treble will be on races 8,9, and 10.
