New head for C.I.B. in Dunedin
PA Wellington The former national coordinator of criminal Intelligence, Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fitzharris, has been appointed head of the Dunedin criminal investigation branch.
A police headquarters spokesman has said that Mr Fitzharris, aged 39, was the first drug enforcement and Intelligence liaison officer to work in Singapore. He worked in Singapore for three years from 1981 when he was seconded to Foreign Affairs.
He was born in Dunedin, and worked in the Dunedin C. 1.8. in the 19705.
He joined the police in 1964 as a cadet and graduated from Trentham in 1965. He worked in Wellington uniform and C. 1.8. branches until becoming a detective seniorsergeant in 1975 when he was transferred to Dunedin.
He returned to Wellington in 1977 as co-ordina-tor of drug enforcement and Intelligence at police national headquarters. The spokesman said it had not yet been decided when Mr Fitzharris would take up his position.
