Additions to B.B. C. family
Acorn Computers, the British manufacturer of the 8.8. C. Micro, has moved up market with the announcement last month of five new models in the 8.8. C. family. The base machine in the range is the Master 128, which has 128 K bytes of random access memory and 128 K bytes of read only memory. The read only memory includes BASIC, a word processing program and a spreadsheet program. It is basically a redesign of the 8.8. C. Micro, using CMOS technology, and with additional bundled software. Many exist-
ing programs for the 8.8. C. Micro will run on the Master 128. Three other models incorporate extra processing power. One has a 65C102 CMOS co-proces-sor, another has an Intel 80186 and GEM software to provide a MS-DOS environment for the 8.8. C. Micro, and the third has a National Semiconductor 32-bit processor.
The fifth new model is a version of the Master 128 for use in an Econet network.
The retail price of the Master 128 in New Zealand is likely to be less than $2OOO.
