R. Otago booming
PA Dunedin Radio Otago, Ltd, has doubled its annual profit for the fourth year in a row. The Dunedin-based station reported a distributable figure of $238,000 ($120,000) for the year ended November 30. In 1983 the figure was $60,000, and in 1982 $24,000. Turnover rose 25 per cent to $2,274,000 ($1,818,000). Pre-tax profit was up 86 per cent at $417,000 ($224,000) and after tax $228,000 ($123,000). Added to this was
$lO,OOO ($3,000 loss) as share of profits from an associated company. Final dividend is 3.5 c a share, making the total for the year 6c or 24 per cent. The directors have issued a four-year summary which marks the growth of the company since it gained the warrant to broadcast in Central Otago. Turnover has risen from $1,489,000. Shareholders funds have gone from $232,000 to $1,093,000. The dividend was 10 per cent in 1982.
