Salford upset the British rugby league championship leader, Widnes, by 22-6 in their first division match at Salford last Sunday. The second-placed Halifax was held to a 10-10 home draw by another leading contender, Hull Kingston Rovers. Other results were.— Hull 34, Castleford 12; Leeds 20, Swinton 8; St Helens 44, Featherstone Rovers 14; Warrington 8, Oldham 4; York 9, Bradford Northern 8.
