Video auction of goats
NZPA-AAP Melbourne A selection of Australian and New Zealand stud Angora goats will go under the hammer in Elders Pastoral’s first Australian and New Zealand video goat auction this month. Elders’s goat promotion manager, Mr Andrew Wenborn, said the offering would include almost 100 of the finest Angora stud goats from both countries. The 29 bucks and 62 does have been selected by their breeders to demonstrate the quality of their stud. The sale will, for the first time, enable buyers from Australia and New Zealand to complete simultaneously for the same stock in the same market. Mr Wenborn said blood testing on the animals had begun and with the use of video, selling would remain on-property before delivery, thereby fulfilling export requirements. Health regulations in Australia and New Zealand dictate that stock must remain on the vendor’s property for a minimum of six months before export. Out-sale centres for the video auction will be set up at Hamilton, Hobart, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane. The sale will be held at 4 p.m. on February 7 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
