Wells takes honours
PA Auckland The champion Auckland swimmer, Rick Wells, coasted into third place at Mairangi Bay yesterday to take over all honours in the sixevent national triathlon series. The Mairangi Bay heat was the long distance course of the series, including a 2km swim, 94km cycle ride, followed by a 21km run round East Coast Bays. Wells, who had won the previous heats he
contested, only had to beat Brett Marshall of Dunedin, to win the Steinlager event. The world women’s triathlon champion, Erin Baker (Christchurch), finished ninth over all in 4hr 32min 545. She had not contested earlier heats. The over all women’s winner was Sue Smith (Auckland) who yesterday finished sixty-fifth in shr 17min 12s. Allison Rowe, who had only to start to take the over-all women’s title,
