Offer to victims
Victims of the Nazi sterilisation campaign can claim 5,000 deutschemarks ($3804) in damages from the West German Government, but only a fraction of the estimated 90,000 survivors know about it. Officials from the state of North Rhine-West-phalia have started a programme for the victims by advertising the damages claim in a newspaper, with a phone number to call for more information. The Nazis sterilised an estimated 350,000 people whom they considered a threat to the “Aryan” race. The targets included Jews, deaf and dumb people, and mental patients.—Cologne.
