Air Albatross craft to be sold
PA Nelson The four remaining aircraft of the grounded Air Albatross fleet will be made operational and then offered for sale throughout Australia and New Zealand, says the liquidator, Mr Tolmis Scoular. One Metroliner has been returned to Australia by the owners who supplied it to Air Albatross on an operating lease, leaving three Metroliners and a Cessna 402 at Nelson Airport, he said. Mr Scoular said that the failed firm had owned
only the Cessna fully, but under the existing financial agreements he was able to offer all the air-
craft for sale. Metroliners are worth between $1.14 and $1.24 million. - He has already been approached by people interested in acquiring them, but not by the a Nelson group which attempted to restart Air Albatross. The office furniture and fittings from the airline’s Wellington base at Lyall Bay have been put to auction. The Nelson engineering headquarters and their offices are still being used.
"Engineering activity will continue as long as we’re still working on the planes," said Mr Scoular.
