Obituary Mr Morris Coutts

Mr Morris Coutts, a former chairman of the Communication Network, who reeived a Queen’s Service Order in 1982, died in Christchurch recently. Mr Coutts helped to finance and import the first telephones for the deaf. He was president of the Deaf Amateur Sports Association and helped raise considerable funds for team members to attend world games. Mr Morris also helped to secure the World

Games for the Deaf in Christchurch in 1989. He was the former sales manager for Deanes, Ltd, and worked for that company for 50 years. In World War II Mr Coutts served In the Fourth Field Ambulance and later was an active member of the Returned Services Association. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and of the Sumner Union Church. Mr Coutts is survived by his wife and three daughters.
